Edmonton Oilers Suffer Embarrassing Shutout Loss in Game 1 of Western Conference Finals

Florida Panthers Take Early Series Lead

Grading the Oilers' Performance

TAMPA, Fla. - The Edmonton Oilers' playoff hopes took a major hit on Friday night as they fell 3-0 to the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Oilers were thoroughly outplayed by the Panthers, who scored two goals in the first period and added another in the third to take a 1-0 series lead.

Sergei Bobrovsky was stellar in goal for the Panthers, stopping all 32 shots he faced. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers' top two scorers, were held to just two shots on goal each. The Oilers also struggled on the power play, going 0-for-5.

The Oilers will need to regroup quickly if they want to avoid falling further behind in the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday night in Sunrise, Florida.
