Philadelphia Wins 3-2 in Game 6, Claims 1987 Stanley Cup

The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in Game 6 of the 1987 Stanley Cup Final on May 28, 1987, to claim their first Stanley Cup since 1975. The Flyers' victory was their third in franchise history and came after a hard-fought series that saw both teams trade wins.

The Flyers took an early lead in Game 6, scoring just 2:23 into the game on a goal by Brian Propp. The Oilers tied the game in the second period on a goal by Gretzky, but the Flyers regained the lead later in the period on a goal by Tim Kerr.

The Flyers held on to their lead in the third period, despite a late push by the Oilers. With just over two minutes remaining in the game, Gretzky scored his second goal of the night to tie the game again. However, the Flyers answered back just 37 seconds later when Craig Berube scored the game-winning goal.

The Flyers' victory was a major upset, as the Oilers were the heavily favored team to win the Stanley Cup. The Flyers had finished the regular season with a record of 46-26-8, while the Oilers had finished with a record of 50-24-6.
